“Never felt as fit as I do right now” so thanks to you Deb I’m looking forward to another good few years of a good exercising relationship.

Ah The Golden Years!  Well Deb, I am well and truly into my golden years, the only thing wrong with them, is that nobody tells you about the aches and pains that come with them!  However I have found my way of combating all these nasty side effects of unfortunately getting old.

I am still loving going to the gym 4/5 times a week, and continuing to have you as my instructor. In fact I think you are one of the true gems of the gym, you are motivating, ready to help when we need it, your funny, and a terrible singer, and always very strict about our form. I remember a step class when there was no power, so no music, and no lights, but you kept us all going by clapping out the beat, and singing!! Funny night! But we had a great step class.

I’m 69 now and have been diagnosed since last May with advanced arthritis in my right hip, and was walking with a limp because of the pain. Thank goodness for you Deb you modified practically everything I did so I could join in all my classes. You got me from 3 lb. weights up to 8lb. weights, and it wasn’t easy, as every so often I’d miss a week from running high fevers, and be as weak as a lamb when I would come back. Then I’d start all over again.

Being a liver transplant patient for 21 years, and on medication, my classes have helped me keep my blood pressure down quite low, my bones in pretty good shape, and my step classes enable me to run up and down stairs quite nicely and my lung capacity has gone up. Now I have a goal of doing 10 lb. weights by the time I turn 70 and you have already started me on them. Can’t get used to my gloves I wear for my free weights, now I have arthritis in my hands, but they really do help to cushion my joints.

I can’t believe you’ve been my instructor for the past 10+ years, it seems to have flown by. The other thing nobody tells you about the Golden Years is that 24 hrs in a day feels like its only a 14/15 hr day as they go so swiftly.

I renewed my passport for 10 years Deb, so I’m depending on you to keep me in shape to use it! Nothing like a little pressure!

When my transplant doctor asks me how I feel in January’s appointment, I will truthfully be able to say “Never felt as fit as I do right now” so thanks to you Deb I’m looking forward to another good few years of a good exercising relationship.

Regards Rena
